The main advantage of the HANZER hatch is its 55 mm deep tray-shaped lid, which allows you to fill it with cobblestones up to 40 mm thick and, under certain conditions, reach the load class C250 (C250=25 t/m²).
The HANZER hatch is made in two versions of steel. For outdoor use, the hatch is made of AISI 304 stainless steel, 5 mm thick, for indoor or outdoor use, made of black steel, 5 mm thick, covered with anti-vandal powder paint.
The HANZER hatch is suitable for creating hidden access to underground communications, water supply, sewage, communication lines, electric cables, pits. It is used to create inspection wells, sewage wells, hidden entrances to technical rooms of swimming pools, artificial lakes. It can also be used to create an invisible entrance in rooms to basement floors or cellars.
The tray of the HANZER floor hatch is filled with solid materials up to 40 mm thick (paving tiles, cobblestones, marble, granite and other stones, porcelain stoneware, terrace board or other similar materials).
In this version, the HANZER hatch is made of sheet black electrowelded cold-rolled carbon steel, 5 mm thick, according to the international standard ISO 630:1995, brand E235-B. The steel is treated with phosphates and coated with polyester powder paint. Welds are performed by the MIG method according to the international standard DIN EN ISO 5817.
The structure of the hatch consists of a frame and a tray, which are connected by means of a powerful external axial hinge Claw ® (the extension of the hinge outside the frame of the hatch is 50 mm). Opening occurs with the help of gas springs.
The frame of the hatch has the appearance of a corner made of bent steel, its size is 65Lx67Hx5 mm. The tray is also made of bent steel, 5 mm thick. Welded seams of the frame and tray are made only in the corners, which helps the hatch withstand the load. The total height of the tray is 60 mm, the net depth is 55 mm. The tray contains a steel reinforced mesh treated with a glass jet to strengthen the poured concrete solution. In the lower part of the frame on four sides there are special plates to fasten it to concrete. The hatch is fixed with anchor bolts through the plates followed by full concreting.
The HANZER floor hatch is sealed and protected against water ingress. For this, a rubber gasket is fixed in the frame, which prevents the ingress of water, and the complete tightness is achieved by compressing the frame and the tray with bolts in the corners on the opposite side of the hinge. For exceptional convenience and speed of screwing the bolts, the stainless steel thread is fixed in special recesses in a movable manner. In the version of the hatch made of black steel, the thread for the fixing bolts is also installed from stainless steel.
The visible gap between the frame and the tray is 3 mm. The total depth of the hatch with the tray along the frame is 67 mm, 132 mm near the shock absorber holders, 77 mm near the protrusion of the floating nut fasteners for the bolts that fix the tray.
In the version described above, the HANZER floor hatch corresponds to the load class C125 (C250=12.5 t/m²); if it is necessary to reach the load class C250 (C250=25 t/m²), 8 mm thick steel will be used for its production.
The hatch tray opens semi-automatically perpendicular to the floor at 86° with the help of adjustable industrial gas shock absorbers fixed on special holders. Based on information about the material, weight and area of the coating, our engineer determines the required load level, and the production specialists adjust the volume of nitrogen in the gas shock absorbers personally for you, for equally easy closing and opening of the hatch! Gas springs are equipped with a damper that dampens the stroke at the end of opening. This is especially relevant for large hatch sizes and prevents damage to the facing material from sudden opening of the tray.
In addition, the hatch can be equipped with a rotary lock that can be opened and closed with a special key both from the outside and from the inside. To open the hatch, it is necessary to use the lifting handles, which are screwed into the thread for the tightening bolts.
To open the hatch:
The number of gas shock absorbers to be installed on the hatch is determined at the factory, calculating the load level based on information about the material, weight, area of the hatch cover and the side of the hinges.
The minimum possible overall size of the structure is 600Lx400W mm, W is the hinge side, the maximum is 1200Lx1200W mm.
If the dimensions of the hatch are not tied to the dimensions of the facing material, the recommended overall size of the hatch should be 130 mm larger (in width and length) than the mounting opening in the floor. The 50 mm hinge offset is not taken into account as part of the overall size.
If it is necessary to calculate the size of the hatch for the size of the tile, measure the dimensions of the tile that will be placed in the tray, taking into account the thickness between the tile seams. Add 30 mm to the measured dimensions to each side (in width and length) to obtain the overall size of the hatch.
It should be taken into account that when concreting the hatch, 150 mm of concrete solution should be poured from each of the four sides around the hatch.
The total depth of the hatch with the tray along the frame is 67 mm, 132 mm near the shock absorber holders, 77 mm near the protrusion of the floating nut fasteners for the bolts that fix the tray.
Light/useful/free space will not be reduced by the structure because the elements of the hatch will be placed on the concrete floor.
Important!!! HANZER hatches are installed only in the opening of the concrete floor.
Important!!! Installation of hatches is possible only in a horizontal position;
Important!!! It is forbidden to operate the hatch with connected gas springs until the work on laying the floor covering is finished!
Before starting work, it is necessary to remove the gas springs from the hatch (if they were installed). The manufacturer always ships products with the gas springs removed. Gas springs are packed separately from other hatch elements.
OPENING PREPARATION
Prepare the opening in the concrete floor of the correct geometric shape with 90 degree angles. Leave a space around the mounting opening to pour concrete. In width, the size of the space on each side should be 215 mm (65 mm frame + 150 mm to pour concrete). Do not start laying the finishing floor covering before installing the hatch!
FIXING THE HATCH IN THE OPENING
Place the hatch on top of the concrete floor so that the hatch frame does not cover the opening. Make sure that the hatch frame is installed without distortions and in one plane with the floor surface. Secure each frame mounting plate to the concrete floor with anchors. We recommend additionally treating the surface of the frame, which is adjacent to the concrete, with soil (paint, bitumen, etc.) to increase anti-corrosion properties.
Close the flap of the hatch and fix it on the tightening bolts. Concrete the frame of the hatch along the contour to the entire height.
Important!!! It is necessary to protect the edges of the frame and plugs from getting concrete mortar on them, because it will be very difficult to clean it after drying.
Important!!! Do not install the gas springs until the hatch is fully fixed to the concrete floor and the frame is concreted.
PREPARATION OF THE HATCH TRAY
Important!!! Do not start filling the hatch tray until the hatch frame is fixed and concreted.
After fixing it in the closed position, fill the hatch tray at least 15 mm with C35/45 grade concrete solution. When filling with concrete, the reinforcing mesh should not lie on the bottom of the tray, but raised 5 mm above the bottom of the tray surface. Leave the space of the required depth to lay the facing material. When reducing the recommended layer of concrete cover, the load class C250 will not be preserved. Deformation and destruction of the structure may also occur at the declared permissible loads.
FACING
After the concrete solution has dried, insert the facing material inside the tray, taking into account the manufacturer's recommendations for its fixation.
Important!!! The hatch is not designed for overlaying the facing material over the edges of the tray, frame and hinge so that they are not visible, this can lead to breakage and damage to the facing material.
Important!!! In order to achieve the maximum concealment of the hatch, it is necessary to calculate the placement of the fragments of the facing material so that the seams are lined along the contour of the hatch.
After finishing laying the lining material, open the hatch door to 90° and connect the gas springs to the hatch with the stem down.
After facing, it is not recommended to walk or run over the hatch for 3 days.
Important!!!
Before closing the hatch, it is necessary to check that there are no foreign objects on the frame of the hatch, and that the seal is correctly inserted;
Gas springs, and especially the rod, should not be exposed to impact, contamination, or exposure to aggressive environments;
The fastening strength of facing materials should exclude their separation or damage when opening the hatch. When operating the hatches, water/dirt must be avoided in the hatch hinges to avoid jamming or corrosion. In case of deterioration of hatch door opening properties, it is allowed to lubricate these elements with lubricants.
CONDITIONS OF STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION
Important!!! Do not leave children unsupervised when the hatch is open, as it is a heavy structure with sharp metal protrusions, carelessness in its handling can lead to serious injury and bodily harm.
If the hatch is open and left unattended, be sure to enclose it with a special tape to prevent other people from falling into the opening.
Important!!! When closing the access door, make sure that no children, domestic animals, birds or other living creatures are trapped between the frame and the door.They can be injured or killed when the access door is closed.
Warning! Rust may appear on black steel hatches during use!
