Description

“Controller” hidden installation access door is specifically created for cases where invisible and convenient access is required in a ceiling lined with a wooden rail, MDF, HPL or other decorative panels up to 20 mm thick. For this, special removable telescopic stainless steel hinges of the “Scissors” model and a reinforced framework of the access door and entrance frames made of aluminum profile pipes are used. It also allows to make large access doors with 1 entrance size, for example, 750 Lx 1600 W, where W is the side of the hinges. “Controller” access door in the ceiling can also be painted and decorated with plaster or wallpaper.

The purpose of the access door is to provide invisible access to ventilation systems and equipment located in the ceiling behind the plasterboard.

“Controller” access door consists of an aluminum frame in the shape of the letter “P” with the dimensions of 40x24x64 mm. The total depth of the frame along the outer edge is 64 mm. The access door has an aluminum profile frame in the shape of the letter “P” with the dimensions of 28x6x20 mm. A sheet of moisture-resistant plasterboard of 12.5 mm is built into this frame. From the inside, the entrance is reinforced with 28x6 mm aluminum profile pipes. The total thickness of the entrance is 20 mm. On the one side, the frame is connected with the entrance by special telescopic hinges made of stainless steel, which we call “Scissors”. They are made of laser-cut plates 2 mm thick, connected to each other by 5 special fasteners, which form 2 movable rhombuses. This makes opening and closing the door extremely easy and precise and extends the entrance so that material up to 20 mm thick can be glued onto it (taking into account the thickness of glue).

Important!!! The weight of the facing material mounted on the access door entrance should not exceed 13 kg with glue per 1 sq. m (approximate weight of 1 sq. m of laminated MDF board 16 mm thick)

On the opposite side, the access door hinges are fixed with the PUSH system of HEFELE Mini-Latch locks. The access door is opened by pressing, after which the entrance lowers into the frame by 4 mm from the side of the locks and opens to 85°.

After installing the “Controller” access door, only a gap of 1.5 mm remains visible.

The profile of the frame and entrance has a thinning near the front part of the access door from 2 mm to an almost imperceptible thickness. Therefore, after installing the access door, only a 1.5 mm gap between the frame and the entrance remains visible. In addition, in the place of thinning of the corner of the frame and the entrance, the surface is grooved for better adhesion of putty.

Detachable steel cables connecting the frame to the access door are installed on the access door in the ceiling under “Controller” for painting.

All access door seams are connected by argon arc welding, which makes them reliable and invisible.

The minimum size of the structure with one entrance is 400x400 mm, the maximum size is 750x1600 mm. For larger dimensions, a design with two entrances is used, the maximum size of which is 2000Lx1200W mm or 1600Lx1600W (W is the side of the hinges). In this design, there are no additional jumpers or reinforcements between the entrances.

The total depth of the structure in the closed state is 64 mm (88 mm in the area of the protrusion of the hinges).

Size selection

To select the size of the “Controller” access door, it is necessary to measure the size of the niche (mounting opening) and subtract 5 mm from the width and length; the obtained results will be the dimensions of the access door. Alternatively, prepare a niche 5 mm larger than the width and length of the access door which you plan to order.

The access door can be turned so that the hinge is placed on the right side. Therefore, when ordering the access door, you only need to calculate the width L and the side of the access door hinge W. The depth of the installation opening for the access door should be at least 65 mm, and in the area of the protrusion of the hinges - 90 mm.

Important!!! Please note that the useful/light/free space of the access door is smaller than the overall size. In width L (perpendicular to the hinge), the space is less by 128 mm (48 mm of the frame + 66 mm of the hinge + 14 mm of protrusion of locks). Along the length W (side of the hinge and opposite), the free space is smaller by 48 mm, due to the thickness of the profile. The calculation is relevant for structures with one entrance.

Assembling

“Controller” access door can be installed in holes in ceilings made of plasterboard (double plasterboard) or other board materials and requires an additional steel profile frame for fastening.

Preparation of the opening.

Install a reinforced CD profile frame along the perimeter of the opening in plasterboard. For large structures, additionally fasten the frame to the concrete ceiling. You should have an opening 5 mm in width and length larger than the overall size of the access door.

Fixation of the access door in the opening.

Install the access door in the prepared steel frame so that the frame of the door protrudes below the level of the steel frame by 13 mm (for fixing the steel frame with plasterboard). The access door should be placed in one plane with plasterboard of the ceiling. Fasten the aluminum profile access door frame to the steel frame with the help of self-tapping screws. If you are installing the access door the perimeter of which is greater than 4000 mm, additionally fasten the aluminum profile of the access door frame to the concrete ceiling with threaded studs. If this is not possible, be sure to securely attach a metal frame to the ceiling to which the access door will be attached. Make sure that the access door is installed without distortion of the frame and in one plane with the surface of the ceiling.

Facing.

When the access door is fixed and plasterboard is mounted on the ceiling, you can start gluing the decorative facing material to the plasterboard of the access door entrance. When fastening, follow the recommendations provided by the manufacturers of the facing material.

Important!!! The thickness should not exceed 20 mm, and the weight should not exceed 13 kg per 1 sq. m of the access door entrance.

Important!!! The facing material should not protrude beyond the access door entrance.

If you have chosen the access door for painting, after installing the access door, start applying putty. In order to prevent cracking and shedding of putty from the access door entrance, we recommend to follow the following facing recommendations:

1) Apply elastic polymer putty, 3 mm thick, to the access door entrance. It must be dry, follow the putty manufacturer's drying recommendations. Drying may take several days. During this period, it is forbidden to apply anything additionally to putty.

2) Apply super light, non-shrinking putty, 1 mm thick, to completely dry elastic putty. After 2-3 hours, perform finishing the facing in accordance with construction standards.

Use a mounting grid and flexible polymer putty to cover the joint between the access door frame and plasterboard to protect it against cracks.

Important!!!

Do not glue the glass screen on the access door entrance.

Storage conditions.

  1. The product can be stored and transported in a horizontal and vertical position (with a longer side facing the floor) without stressing the locks;
  2. The product must be stored exclusively indoors at a temperature from +10 to +50 degrees Celsius, relative humidity no more than 70%;
  3. It is forbidden to store the product near open heat sources closer than 2 meters;
  4. Direct ingress of water on the access door is prohibited.

Important!!!

  • Access doors are installed in the ceiling before finishing the facing;
  • During installation, it is important not to allow the frame to skew, the corners of the access door frame should be kept at 90 degrees. Additionally, the access door should be placed in one plane with the ceiling plane;
  • Do not leave children unsupervised when the access door is open, as it is a heavy structure with sharp metal protrusions, so carelessness in its handling can lead to serious injury and bodily harm. Be cautious!
