DESCRIPTION

The main advantage of the DEVER Floor Access Cover is its 55 mm deep tray-shaped lid, which allows you to fill it with paving stones up to 40 mm thick and, under certain conditions, to reach the C250 load class (C250=25 t/m²).

DEVER Floor Access Cover is made in two versions of steel. For outdoor use, the Floor Access Cover is made of AISI 304 stainless steel, 5 mm thick, for indoor or outdoor use, it is covered with black steel, 5 mm thick, and with anti-vandal powder paint.

DEVER Floor Access Cover is suitable for creating hidden access to underground communications, water supply, sewage, communication lines, electric cables, pits. It is used to create inspection wells, wells for collecting water, hidden entrances to technical rooms of swimming pools, artificial lakes. It can also be used to create an invisible entrance in rooms to basement floors or cellars.

DEVER Floor Access Cover is filled with solid materials up to 40 mm thick (paving tiles, cobblestones, marble, granite and other stones, porcelain stoneware, terrace board or other similar materials).

For the manufacture of the DEVER Floor Access Cover, sheet stainless steel AISI 304, 5 mm thick, which is processed by the chemical passivation method, is manufactured. Additionally, stainless steel is polished with a glass jet. The glass jet treatment removes residual stresses in welds. Welds are treated by the TIG method according to the international standard EN 10217-7.

In the second configuration, the DEVER Floor Access Cover is made of sheet black electro-welded cold-rolled carbon steel, 5 mm thick, under the international standard ISO 630:1995, brand E235-B. The steel is treated with phosphates and coated with polyester powder paint. Welds are made by the MIG method according to the international standard DIN EN ISO 5817.

The frame of the Floor Access Cover has the appearance of a corner made of bent steel, its dimensions are 65Lx67Hx5 mm. The tray is also made of bent steel, 5 mm thick. Welded seams of the frame and tray are manufactured only in the corners, thanks to which the Floor Access Cover withstands the load. The total height of the tray is 60 mm, the net depth is 55 mm. The tray contains a steel reinforced mesh treated with a glass jet to strengthen the poured concrete solution. In the lower part of the frame on four sides there are special plates for fastening it to concrete. The Floor Access Cover is fixed with anchor bolts through the plates followed by full concreting.

DEVER Floor Access Cover is sealed, protected against water, odors and dust. For this, a rubber gasket is fixed in the frame, which prevents water from entering, and the final tightness is achieved by compressing the frame and the tray with tightening bolts in the four corners. For exceptional convenience and speed of screwing the bolts, the stainless steel thread is fixed in special recesses in a movable manner. In the black steel configuration of the Floor Access Cover, a stainless steel thread for fixing bolts is also installed.

The visible gap between the frame and the tray is 3 mm. The total depth of the Floor Access Cover with the tray along the frame is 67 mm, in the area of the protrusion of the floating nut fasteners for the bolts that fix the tray - 77 mm.

DEVER Floor Access Cover corresponds to the C125 load class (C250=12.5 t/m²), if it is necessary to reach the C250 load class (C250=25 t/m²), 8 mm thick steel will be used for its production.

To open the Floor Access Cover, you need to use lifting handles that are screwed into the thread for the tightening bolts.

To open the Floor Access Cover, you need to:

  • unscrew the four tightening bolts placed diagonally in the corners of the Floor Access Cover;
  • screw two lifting handles (included in the kit) into the holes for the tightening bolts;
  • pull the lifting handles up.

To close, do the procedure in the reverse order: put the tray back into the frame, unscrew the lifting handles, screw in the tightening bolts. If necessary, the Floor Access Cover can be equipped with additional lifting handles (a total of 4).

The minimum possible overall dimensions of the structure are 300x300 mm, the maximum ones are 1200x1200 mm.

SIZE SELECTION

If the dimensions of the Floor Access Cover are not tied to the dimensions of the facing material, recommended overall dimensions of the Floor Access Cover are 130 mm larger (in width and length) than the mounting opening in the floor.

If you need to calculate the size of the tile Floor Access Cover, measure dimensions of the tile to be placed in the tray, taking into account thickness of in-between tile seams. To the measured dimensions add 30 mm to each side (in width and length) to obtain be the overall dimensions of the Floor Access Cover.

It should be taken into account that when concreting the Floor Access Cover, 150 mm of concrete solution should be poured from each of the four sides around the Floor Access Cover.

The total depth of the hatch with the tray along the frame is 67 mm, in the area of the protrusion of the floating nut fasteners for the bolts that fix the tray - 77 mm.

The clear/useful opening will not be reduced by the structure because the elements of the Floor Access Cover will be placed on the concrete floor.

ASSEMBLING

DEVER Floor Access Covers are installed in the opening of the concrete floor only.

PREPARATION OF THE OPENING

Prepare an opening in the concrete floor of the correct geometric shape with 90o angles. Leave a space around the mounting opening for pouring concrete. In width, the size of the space on each side should be 215 mm (65 mm of a frame + 150 mm to pour concrete). Do not start laying the floor covering before installing the Floor Access Cover!

FIXING THE FLOOR ACCESS COVER IN THE OPENING

Install the Floor Access Cover on top of the concrete floor so that the Floor Access Cover frame does not cover the opening. Make sure that the Floor Access Cover frame is installed without distortions and in one plane with the floor surface. Secure each frame mounting plate to the concrete floor with anchors. We recommend additionally treating the surface of the frame, which is adjacent to the concrete, with soil (paint, bitumen, etc.) to increase anti-corrosion properties.

Close the flap of the Floor Access Cover and fix it on the tightening bolts. Concrete the frame of the Floor Access Cover along the contour along the entire height.

Important!!! It is necessary to protect the edges of the frame and plugs from getting concrete mortar on them, because it will be very difficult to clean it after drying.

PREPARATION OF THE FLOOR ACCESS COVER TRAY

Important!!! Do not start filling the Floor Access Cover tray until the Floor Access Cover frame is fixed and concreted.

Install the Floor Access Cover tray in the middle of the Floor Access Cover frame after it is fixed and concreted. Fill the tray by at least 40 mm with C35/45 grade concrete solution. When filling with concrete, the reinforcing mesh should not lie on the bottom of the tray but should be raised 5 mm above the bottom of the tray surface. Leave a space of the required depth for laying the facing material. If the recommended layer of the concrete covering is reduced, C250 load class will not be preserved. Deformation and destruction of the structure may also occur at the declared permissible loads.

FACING

After the concrete solution has dried, apply the facing material inside the tray, taking into account the manufacturer's recommendations for its fixation.

Important!!! The Floor Access Cover is not designed for overlaying the facing material on top of the sides of the tray and the frame so that they are not visible, this can lead to breakage and damage to the facing material.

Important!!! To achieve the maximum concealment of the Floor Access Cover, calculate the placement of the facing material fragments so that the seams are placed along the contour of the Floor Access Cover.

After installation, it is not recommended to walk on the Floor Access Cover for 3 days.

Important!!!

Before closing the Floor Access Cover, check for foreign objects on the Floor Access Cover frame and make sure that a sealer was correctly inserted;

Facing materials should be fastened in such a way as not to separate or get damaged when opening the Floor Access Cover.
